Francesca Pisapia: Shaping Purposeful Communications from the Classroom to Global Financial Agency

Meet Francesca, our Communications Officer based in Milan. Her career began in the classroom, where she developed the ability to turn complex ideas into clear messages for different audiences, a skill she now brings to GLAS Italy’s internal and external communications. Francesca joined Loan Agency Services (LAS), Italy’s leading financial services agency, in 2018, and following its integration into GLAS, she brings an evolved perspective and enthusiasm for being part of a global organisation.

Tell us a bit about yourself outside of work.

FP: I’m originally from Rome and moved to Milan in 2021. I’m also the proud mum of Andrea, my energetic two-year-old. Much of my free time is spent in parks, playgrounds and farms with him.

When I do carve out a moment for myself, I love baking, it is my way of relaxing on challenging days. I also enjoy reading and watching series when I get the chance.

Tell us a bit about your professional background, and how did you come to build a career in communications?

FP: My background is in humanities. I studied language and literature in Rome, which gave me a strong foundation in writing and critical thinking. After university, I spent almost a year teaching, and that experience still shapes how I approach communication today. Learning to explain complex ideas clearly, and to adapt how you speak depending on your audience, started in the classroom.

In 2018, I joined LAS (now GLAS Italy) as a Communications Officer, initially on maternity cover. From the start, I felt at home in the company’s familiar, collaborative environment. At the time, we were only around ten people. I gradually grew into the role alongside the business, and what began as a short-term cover became something I built into a career.

How was the transition from teaching to communications?

FP: It was a completely different sector, but I found similarities. Whether addressing a classroom or a financial audience, the challenge is the same: making ideas clear and accessible. I wanted to test myself in a new environment, and communications offered that opportunity while giving me a better balance between work and personal life.

What does your day-to-day look like as a Communications Officer?

FP: My work spans both internal and external communications, requiring attention to detail and flexibility, since priorities can shift quickly.

Over time, I’ve worked closely with management and on corporate content, which has highlighted how vital communication is in shaping our identity and supporting our growth. As for a typical day, it really depends on the period. This past phase has been particularly busy, with many activities running in parallel, especially around the name change.

There isn’t really a “typical” day, and I think that’s exactly what keeps the role so interesting.

The company has recently rebranded LAS to GLAS. What does that change mean for you?

FP: The biggest change has been in mindset rather than daily tasks. My responsibilities remain similar, with some additional tasks connected to the rebranding, such as updating documents, managing communication for clients and suppliers, revising letterheads and business cards, and reviewing website content.

The real shift has been in mindset, thinking beyond the local context. We’re now part of an international organisation, and that means considering how our work contributes to a broader global narrative. Overall, I see this integration not as a complete change, but as an evolution.

What excites you most about being part of GLAS?

FP: The opportunity to be part of a company that has grown significantly while maintaining a strong sense of identity and collaboration. Even though GLAS is international, I still feel the same family spirit I experienced when I first joined LAS.

In the calls I’ve had with new colleagues from across the GLAS network, I’ve found the same warmth and openness. “We are GLAS” doesn’t feel like a slogan to me. It reflects the collaborative culture, even if we live in different countries and work in different ways.

What qualities of the Italian team do you think stand out within GLAS?

FP: Our consistency and passion. Whether tackling new tasks or familiar ones, we approach our work with the same level of dedication, energy, and attention to detail. In addition, the team shows a strong sense of collaboration and adaptability. We are used to working in dynamic environments, responding quickly to change, and supporting one another to achieve shared goals.

This combination of reliability, enthusiasm and flexibility allows us to contribute effectively while maintaining high standards. That spirit of commitment is something we’re proud to share with the wider GLAS network.

In your view, what differentiates GLAS from other firms?

FP: The family-oriented approach combined with a strong culture of collaboration. This creates an environment where people feel supported and encouraged to work together, both within teams and across functions.

GLAS’ global presence also sets it apart. With teams across different countries and regulatory frameworks, we can support clients worldwide by combining local knowledge with international expertise.
