GLAS Appoints Loan Industry Veteran Anatoly Sorin as Head of UK

LONDON, 1 November 2022 — GLAS today announced that Anatoly Sorin has joined the firm as the Head of UK based out of its London headquarters reporting into its Head of EMEA, Joanne Brooks. He brings more than 15 years of experience in the loan agency and corporate trustee industry, including longstanding expertise in complex securitisations such as CDOs and CLOs.

Sorin joins GLAS from U.S. Bank where he worked for more than 10 years in its Global Corporate Trust Services business. He most recently served as Senior Vice President and Head of Relationship Management in addition to membership on the senior leadership team. In his time at U.S. Bank, he developed strong relationships with the bank’s institutional clients and was responsible for establishing the transaction closing and on-boarding process. He also led a team of experts that implemented bespoke client solutions.

Sorin gained his expertise in debt markets before, during and after the 2007–08 financial crisis during his time on the CDO and CLO desks at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He developed a reputation as a leader and life-long learner, developing processes for many of the novel securitised debt products that his team administered. He also has extensive experience in restructuring and distressed situations.

“Anatoly has an excellent reputation in our corner of the financial sector, and I have always been impressed by his ability to create processes and systems that deliver results for clients and staff alike,”

“His deep knowledge of the debt markets, strong relationships across the industry and innovative approach to management will enable our team to continue to grow our book of business while maintaining excellent client service.”

Joanne Brooks, Head of EMEA at GLAS.

GLAS UK is the backbone of the GLAS global business. As GLAS has expanded into new markets and opened new offices, GLAS UK continues to grow its roster of clients, breadth of services and transaction volumes. In this newly created position, Sorin will be responsible for the Loan Agency and Trustee businesses in London, directly managing the Transaction Management Group, Middle Office, Debt Capital Markets and Client Services teams.

“Mia and her team have helped transform GLAS into a force of nature in the debt markets,”

“They have built an impressive book of business in the debt administration space, and I look forward to implementing processes to help manage the growing transaction volumes in the London operation. I will use my coaching-oriented management style to help enrich our London staff as we build the business together.”

Anatoly Sorin, Head of UK at GLAS.
